Data-Driven Collection Review

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

Webster University completes a comprehensive review each year in one of the following areas: print and e-journals, reference collection/standing orders, stacks, and databases. Taking information from Sierra bib, item, order, and checkin records as well as Ebsco and Serials Solutions data, we create reports with quantifiable information, such as usage statistics, last checkin, holdings, overlap analysis, and pricing information to allow all reviewers to have the necessary data to make informed decisions. We will share our procedures and how they have evolved over the years. We will also demonstrate ways to identify and highlight high cost, low usage items when quick, targeted reductions are needed. The comprehensive reviews have helped demonstrate that we are spending money prudently and supporting our users’ needs in this age of assessment and decreasing budgets.

Electronic Resources Librarian, Webster University
My experiences as a librarian since 2008 have taken me through the realms of systems, website design, and managing electronic resources. I enjoy negotiating with vendors, troubleshooting, solving problems, and really good chocolate.
